In the kitchen, keep dishtowels away from burners. Smoke alarms belong in every bedroom. A flashlight should always be within reach. In the bathroom, tubs need a nonskid surface, like decals. Don’t forget to store medicine and cleaning supplies where kids can’t get to them. A little advance planning can make your home a much safer place.
