Albert Cook Plumbing

Albert Cook Plumbing

Back in 1955, Albert Cook, his wife Eleanora (known as Cookie) and their three young sons started their plumbing company out of their home with only one truck and a slogan Dependable Service at Reasonable Prices.  With a prospering business in 1957, Albert moved his firm to a storefront building at 1013 East Parkway, across from the old Fairgrounds, Merry-Go-Round, once known as Liberty land.  As business continued to grow, the Cooks moved to a larger location at 2101 Central Avenue in 1964, which formerly housed the Bluff City Lumber Company.

During this era, Albert Cook Plumbing used a radio jingle with the words, King of the Kitchen and Prince of the Bath. This jingle became popular all over Memphis and prompted customers to call the business and ask for Prince Albert, an apt name for Mr. Cook.  In the late 1960s through the 1970s, Albert Cook Plumbing was considered one of - if not the largest plumbing company in the southeastern United States, with more than 100 employees.

Mr. Cook celebrated his 87th birthday this year and is still the figure-head of his business that is now run by four of his children; Wayne, Gary, Bobby Cook and their sister and brother-in-law, Eddie and Patty Nelius.  Recently, Albert was on-hand for a ribbon cutting in honor of his business becoming a member of the Germantown Chamber of Commerce on November 3. This was a true celebration for Mr. Cook, his family and the business he and his wife started many years ago.

Albert Cook Plumbing currently works in Shelby, Tipton and Fayette Counties in Tennessee and in DeSoto and Marshall Counties in Mississippi.  Handling all plumbing work from repair to new installation in both commercial and residential, you can’t go wrong by calling Albert’s business.  It's a sure bet the Prince of Plumbing will treat you like family.
