History of Pop-A-Lock New Orleans
Pop-A-Lock of New Orleans opened in 1993 as a “Car Door Unlocking Company” and introduced Pop-A-Locks’ signature Emergency Car Door Unlocking (EDU) service as a free public service to the New Orleans Metro Area. By 1998 the company had 8 full time employees and its’ EDU service had become a critical component of the areas 911 emergency response system, averaging over 30 EDU’s per month. The company’s services expanded to Roadside Assistance services including tire changes, jump-starts and fuel deliveries.
In response to requests from customers the company began offering Automotive Locksmith, Residential Locksmith, and Commercial Locksmith services in 2000 to the greater New Orleans Metro area. By 2004, the company employed 12 – Car Door Unlocking Technicians and 3 – full-time locksmiths. Late 2004 the company was acquired from the founders by Tulane University graduate and Board Certified Safety Professional, Paul H. Sewall.
August 29, 2005 arrived with a bang called Hurricane Katrina. The mandatory evacuation of the city forced the company to cease operations until early October of 2005 when Jefferson Parish allowed companies offering “critical services” to re-open. Pop-A-Lock re-opened for business in October 2005. By early 2006 the majority of the company’s employees had returned to the New Orleans area and to Pop-A-Lock New Orleans. Today, Pop-A-Lock New Orleans continues its history as one of the most successful franchisees in the Pop-A-Lock system.
The majority of our 20+ employees are Licensed Locksmiths and Pop-A-Lock still provides Emergency Car Door Unlocking (EDU) as a free public service.
