Spruce Interior Design Studio
Spruce is a New Orleans based interior design studio and showroom featuring carefully curated sustainable décor, modern furnishings and accessories for the home. We specialize in hard to find wallpapers and fabrics that are from independent artists and small design houses all over the world. Our design projects ranges from residential to small commercial such as medical clinics, retail and spa.
Spruce began in 2008 by Nomita Joshi-Gupta. Upon finding her home devastated by Hurricane Katarina in 2005, Ms. Joshi-Gupta began her quest for green rebuilding. The house took 12 inches of water which was enough mold to destroy an entire level. She started looking for products and ideas to make her new renovation sustainable by researching countless websites and magazines. Thousands of pages and articles were dog-eared. This became a basis for setting up a showroom where other folks could find innovative green materials. In 5 years Spruce has grown from a showroom to include a retail store offering a variety of sustainable products. All the products are carefully vetted before they get to the retail floor. We are require that our products have one or more of the following qualities-sustainable, handmade, artist made, fair trade, locally produced and green shipping practices.
Spruce also offers design services from color consulting to designing entire homes and small commercial. We are mindful of the environment and direct and educate our clients on improving indoor air quality, using sustainable products and employing as local artists and trades as we can in every project. We are committed to living a whole and inspired lifestyle.
