Perrin Woodworking is a locally owned and operated carpentry business specializing in high quality, handcrafted, custom furniture and cabinetry.  As a full service carpentry business, our craftsman create distinctive, personalized, & one-of-a-kind furniture pieces that are designed and built using the finest materials and the most innovative design concepts.  Our craftsman uphold the highest level of professionalism and quality service to provide our clients with unique, durable, and long-lasting furniture pieces that will stand for generations of enjoyment.

With over 20 years’ experience, we understand the importance of project expectations and work with each client to meet their individual goals.  From design concept to installation, Perrin Woodworking is a valuable resource throughout all phases of the project. 

The Owners

Dan A. Perrin

Born in Charleston, Dan Perrin developed an understanding and appreciation for the lowcountry and the environment at a young age.  Woodworking has always been a passion of Dan's and in 1999, Perrin started the cabinetry business Perrin Woodworking from his home garage.  Dan started the company with the desire to offer residents of the lowcountry uncompromised quality and design.  Growing up in the lowcountry, it is no surprise that Dan is a man of the water.  As a self-taught sailor, Dan was raised with a strong passion for the water.  "Sailing is much like woodworking. Both deal with the elements, and it is our responsibility to respect those elements while working with them."  Today, Perrin has expands on the original concept of residential cabinetry to include fine custom furniture and commercial interiors that can be seen from Charleston to Charlotte and Atlanta.  Perrin continues to develop his craft, experimenting with new building techniques and material, and is always looking for the next challenge to push his craft to new heights. 

Katherine J. Perrin

Working in her father & grandfather’s wood shop at a young age and influenced by their passion for furniture making, Katy grew up with a strong appreciation for woodworking, art, and a desire to express herself through a mixed media of installation and photography.  At the age of eighteen, Katy traveled to Australia for what she thought was a last ditch effort to “figure out her purpose in life” and what ended up a three month photography excursion from Brisbane to the Whitsunday Islands.  Once grounded back in “the real world” Katy commenced to enhance her knowledge of the arts at Augusta State University.  At age twenty, the call of the ocean summoned her, and Perrin moved to Charleston to teach sailing, quickly falling in love with the beauty and wander of the low country. Today, Perrin works alongside her husband as co-owner of Perrin Woodworking.   “Nature has always fascinated me and I love taking items from the outdoors and creating pieces than can be enjoyed by others.” Katy & Dan can be often be found working together (but separately) in the shop or more often enjoying a “cold one” on the water!

H.J. Holtz & Son, Inc. was founded by my grandfather, Herman J. Holtz, in 1936. Over the years the company has grown to become a full-service painting, decorative finishes, and wallpaper contractor. But our growth is not as important as how we do what we do.

Because we’ve been in business so long, we’ve been able to orient everything about how we operate around providing high-quality service to our clients.

As we gained experience with homeowners we began to see the same problems or challenges come up repeatedly. For many of these problems, simply applying paint was not a sufficient solution. Here are just a few of the challenges that we have come to understand over the years and to develop ways to overcome:

Design limits – by hiring and training talented people, we’ve developed unmatched expertise in wallpapering, decorative finishes, and creative applications of paint to offer our clients greater design freedom.

Imperfect structures and walls – houses settle or have unusual characteristics. We’ve practically become “wall whisperers” over time given our ability to figure out tricky situations and direct the work of other contractors to reach a result that otherwise seemed impossible.

Timing and budget – our project management process has evolved during our history to become one of our most valuable company assets. Our clients not only want a “wow” result, they want it delivered on time and on budget… so that is what we do!

Trust and comfort – having a company come into your home to work for days or even weeks is an inconvenience. That inconvenience is made much easier with the right people. At H.J. Paint jobs that don’t last – as we have perfected our practices and stayed abreast of the latest in paint and application technologies, our clients have enjoyed greater and greater longevity from the work we do. Susan M. Jamieson, ASID is the founder of Bridget Beari Designs, Inc. where she works primarily on high-end residential interior design projects in Virginia as well cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Florida and internationally in Costa Rica and Mexico. Her work has been featured in national and local magazine such as Traditional Home, Southern Living, Virginia Living, Rhome, Washington Post and Richmond Magazine. Susan’s projects have also been featured on HGTV and TLC. 

She has created a custom paint line called Bridget Beari Colors, 200 custom  colors available nationwide. The paint lines include – Classic, Modern, Exotic, and Metallic so you too can get that “ Bridget Beari look.” This year she introduces Bridget Beari Papers, her own custom designed wallpaper collection.  Her daily blog Bridget Beari Design Chat gives interior design and lifestyle tips as well as insights into her design business and travels.
