Here’s a kitchen project you will enjoy outside and inside your house. Almost every kitchen has a window, so why not hang a window box to grow fresh kitchen herbs? You can buy a ready-made box, and you’ll have fresh herbs like rosemary, basil, and sage right at your fingertips. Before you hang your box, make sure you measure and mark both sides so your box will be level. Then, plant your herbs and let nature do the rest. Whenever you paint inside your house, you can roast sage leaves to neutralize the smell of fresh paint.

Here are three things you can try to keep your home naturally bug free. Ants, fleas and spiders breed where it’s damp, so keep areas around your house dry. Clear piles of leaves and garden clippings away from your outside walls. Sprinkle boric acid or DET at the base of exterior walls and windows. These non-toxic solutions won’t harm pets or people. Keep food and trash in kitchen garbage cans only, and make sure yours has a tight lid, and empty it every night.
